How We Got Here
NCL was founded in 2021 by Lynne Leon on Nak'azdli Whut'en territory in Fort St James. What started as a local crew taking on work close to home has grown into a full-service contractor with the trades, equipment and people to handle projects of any size across the region.
In 2023 NCL incorporated and joined the Nak'azdli Development Corporation group of businesses, a community-owned economic development organization that has been building wealth for Nak'azdli Whut'en since 1987. That backing has allowed NCL to grow its capacity and take on larger, more complex projects while staying rooted in the community it was built to serve.

Built for the Community
NCL is owned by the Nak'azdli Whut'en, a First Nation with deep roots in the land surrounding Fort St James. Every project NCL takes on creates jobs for community members and puts revenue back into the Nation.
For clients, that means working with a contractor that has a real stake in the region. We're not a company passing through. We live and work here, and we build like it.
Featured Projects
NCL manages projects of varying complexity and scale. These featured projects demonstrate our capacity for innovative building techniques, community focused design, and comprehensive site management across the region.
Nak’azdli’s Tiny Homes for Elders
NCL served as the prime contractor for this five-building residential development. We integrated custom solar arrays and a net-metering system to lower utility costs for residents. The project featured frost wall foundations and high-efficiency wooden structures built to support local housing needs.

Whut’en Housing Project
Working with Keller Construction, NCL provided specialized trade support for this $15M residential development. Our team managed temporary site power and installed 35,000 square feet of high-performance roofing. We also handled the interior finishing, door hardware, and window trim for all apartment and townhome buildings.

Mass Timber House Pilot Project
This pilot project utilized advanced mass timber panel construction to create a resilient and energy-efficient home. NCL oversaw the prime contract, including factory panel assembly and the installation of a specialized high-velocity HVAC system. Our team also completed all foundation work and deep service connections.
